A Dedication of Two Albums.
One Blues Journey.
Every blues journey has a story, the musicians who bring it to life, and the people behind the scenes who make the magic happen.
As Anthea Jewels, Bill Ruffle and Blues Bazaar celebrate the release of our two albums,Blues Soul & Rock ’n’ Roll and Catch the Blues Train – From Naarm to New Orleans, we dedicate both recordings to Tony Bishop of Bishop Sound, in heartfelt recognition of his extraordinary contribution to our music and Melbourne’s blues community.
Tony has been so much more than our producer and recording engineer. He hasbeen our musical guide, sounding board, mentor and trusted friend, helpingshape our recordings with his experience, intuition and genuine love of music. Asa singer and musician himself, Tony understands the artist behind theperformance. His organic approach, generous spirit and instinct for bringing outthe best in musicians have been invaluable throughout this journey.
With more than six decades of experience in sound, music and community, Tony’s contribution extends well beyond the recording studio. Through Bishop Sound and his longstanding connection with Melbourne’s blues community, including Way Out West, he has helped nurture musicians, support live music and pass knowledge across generations.
These albums represent more than songs recorded over time. They celebrateresilience, friendship, collaboration and the enduring power of the blues — ajourney from the music that inspired us to the music we have lived and created.
With the support of Way Out West President and music legend Rob Rowe, andTony’s good friend Ian “Bully” Bull, we hope this dedication shines a light onTony’s remarkable legacy.
